I help couples and people in relationships who want it to work, but can't stop the cycle of the

same argument, the same shutdown, and the same feeling of not being heard.

When my clients come to therapy, they have tried to work it out on their own, but it always leaves them feeling defeated and hopeless. Others come to me because they need support with their communication - or - they genuinely do not understand how the state of their relationship got to this point. They want to find deeper understanding, learn skills, and change the pattern.

When they first come in, they don't know how to stop the arguing before it gets out of control, often saying hurtful things they don't mean and continuing a frustrating cycle they have experienced many times before. Sometimes, clients describe how big, important topics tend to get swept under the rug. The topic has become so dusty, just lying under the surface of daily interactions, that they have no clue how to even broach the topic anymore.

They love each other, but they keep hitting the same wall. It feels like any time they try to connect, it ends up with both people feeling hurt, unseen, and misunderstood. ​​  ​​
